John, a member of the Unnecessaries, was the instigator of this website.  Sadly, he passed away at the end of September 2024 after a difficult few years health-wise.

John had a wonderful sense of humour, was incredibly talented at many things, usually good at navigation, had amazing stamina and determination.  He was always fun to be with and caring for his family and friends.  He was excellent at technology although pretended otherwise! His two sons, Tom and Jake, have also joined the Unnecessaries.

His last walk was along the Nantlle Ridge in Wales on which he was his usual cheerful bouncy self. 

We will miss him hugely.
