Bavaria 2025
This year's walk took us from Lake Konigsee to Lake Chiemsee in 8 days, plus a treat going to Oktoberfest in Munich at the end. The closest airport to the start was Salzburg, so naturally some of the guys flew in to Munich.
It was a walk of generally good paths, good walking, some stunning views, beautiful villages and the usual banter. Only occasionally getting lost too.
Saying of the week: Work in work and schnapps is schnapps.
The walkers started in a forest near Lake Konigsee having been picked up by a grumpy taxi driver and packed into a minibus whilst Ray slept in.

New navigational aids
This year we had a detailed book and an App to guide us. They were so good we managed to have about 10 different opinions at every junction.
Inevitably we had varied accommodation, some cosy double beds for 2, sometimes too few beds, key pads to enter all the information multiple times with random country lists and insufficient beer but it was made up for by the warm and friendly welcome we had in the restaurants. We seemed to frighten off the locals though.

We also went through some interesting gorges.

We crossed between Germany and Austria frequently.
In one hotel taking a shower was to risk head injury as parts fell off.

Of course, we had to rest a lot as we are getting old

There were helpful signs on the rock about the danger of climbing
Long board walks on the border so we didn't get our feet wet.

A lot of variety during the week. Some wonderful views at lunchtime, served by a bus. Some caving, and a few scary moments.

Some stunning views along the way

A few interesting climbs

Ropes to make it easier - softies

Rehydration is essential. Note Ray's rather shiny jacket, maybe a bit damp cycling?
Met a few "unexpected" relatives

And then to Munich
Well, it would be rude not to enjoy the local hospitality, wouldn't it? Notice the kilt worn by Ray, to contrast the traditional lederhosen worn by Matt ($10 from Amazon).

Not singing in the rain but drinking in the rain, with a short visit by Jake

But we couldn't quite keep up with the locals
